The Watershed Association would like to publicly recognize and honor the contributions of one of its most venerable board members, Bill Matthews. Responding to our request that he serve another three years, Bill responded, "I am going to exercise the principle of term limits-- I think 12 years is long enough."
We will miss him.
Bill is a retired chemical engineer who lends his skills to a variety of organizations. He has been a member of the Morris County Planning Board since 1975, chair since 1983. GSWA has benefited greatly from Bill's technical skills, detailed knowledge of county planning issues, and insights into the complex issues that challenge the survival of the Great Swamp.
He has brought wisdom to our board and has been a steady voice of reason. Although he is stepping down, he has promised to remain a supportive member of the Watershed Association.
We will call on him in the future. Thank you, Bill, for your many contributions to our shared interests. You are a good friend of the Great Swamp!-- Len Hamilton, Member, Board of Trustees, Great Swamp Watershed Association
