Three Cheers for Mendham!

After a 10-year hiatus, the Mendham Borough Environmental Commission has returned to active status. The Commission, chaired by Jennifer Gemberling, is fortunate to have talented and enthusiastic members including the current Director of New Jersey Green Acres, the Executive Director of the New Jersey Chapter of the Nature Conservancy, and a former member of the Bernardsville Shade Tree Commission. At its first meeting on January 9th the group outlined several projects for the 1996 agenda, including: a logo contest, a survey of the Borough's 1700 households on environmental issues, participation in the Borough's 90th birthday party, and a fall open space workshop.

In 1996 the Commission will lay the foundation for its community role. Public awareness is critical to the group's success. The main goal will be to make citizens aware of the area's unique resources and that prudent stewardship of these resources can improve Mendham's quality of life.
