The BioBlitz hub is at the Friends of Great Swamp National Wildlife Refuge Bookstore & Gift Shop, 197 Pleasant Plains Road, Basking Ridge, NJ 07920 (star on map below).
Directions:
From I–287:
- Take exit 30A (Basking Ridge/North Maple Avenue) and bear right onto North Maple Avenue.
- Go through traffic light at Madisonville Road (ignore the refuge directional sign pointing left at Madisonville Road) and continue on North Maple Avenue.
- After one mile North Maple will bear left and become South Maple Avenue.
- Continue on South Maple Avenue for one mile and turn left on Lord Stirling Road.
- After 1.3 miles (last part is a dirt road) and pass over a bridge on the Passaic River (the road name changes to White Bridge Road).
- From the bridge on White Bridge Road continue straight on White Bridge Road for 1.0 mile and turn left onto Pleasant Plains Road.
- Continue on Pleasant Plains road for another 0.5 miles to BioBlitz Hub at the Friends Bookstore & Gift Shop, on the right.
From I-78:
- Take exit 40, (Gillette) and turn right onto Hillcrest Road (County Road 531) from 78W, left onto Hillcrest from 78E.
- Go to stop sign (1 mile), cross Mountain Avenue, staying on Hillcrest Road (CR 531). (Hillcrest Road becomes Mountain Avenue after passing over the Passaic River Bridge.)
- Go straight through the traffic light at the intersection with County Road 512, and continue on Mountain Avenue (aka County Road 638).
- Go 1.3 miles to the top of the hill and cross over Long Hill Road onto Meyersville Road.
- Go down Meyersville Road 0.8 miles to circle, turn left onto New Vernon Road.
- Travel on New Vernon Road to the first intersection, White Bridge Road.
- Turn left and continue 1.0 mile to the intersection with Pleasant Plains Road.
- Turn right onto Pleasant Plains Road and go through the “gate.”
- Continue on Pleasant Plains road for another 0.5 miles; the BioBlitz Hub at the Friends Bookstore & Gift Shop is on the right.
