GSWA Elects Three New Trustees

By Karen Patterson

Prior to the Annual Dinner, GSWA’s Board of Trustees voted to re-elect current trustees Michele Blanchard and Paul Becker, and to elect new trustees Chris Allyn, Larry Chase, and Dr. Lee Pollock. All three of the new trustees have been actively involved with various GSWA committees for a number of years.

Chris Allyn is a Technical Manager in the Advanced Technology division of Lucent Technologies' Bell Laboratories. He is a member of the Harding Environmental Commission and an Association of New Jersey Environmental Commissions (ANJEC) Trustee, and serves on GSWA's Science and Technology Committee. Through Harding's Environmental Commission he has been actively involved with the establishment of GIS and open space planning in the town.

Larry Chase is a retired public relations expert who has worked for a number of colleges and private corporations, most recently AT&T. He serves on GSWA's Development Committee, works with Development Director Bonnie Gannon to research and write grant proposals, and writes and distributes press releases to promote GSWA projects and events.

Dr. Lee Pollock is a professor of Biology at Drew University and is a key member of the "Stream Teams" (GSWA's steam monitoring program). With the help of his students at Drew he conducts an annual Macroinvertebrate (MIV) survey at 15 sites throughout the watershed. The MIV survey is an important indicator of the overall health of each of the streams.

GSWA is fortunate indeed to have three such talented and dedicated new Board members. Welcome!
