GSWA welcomes Lisa Di’Antonio as an intern from Drew University. She volunteers one day a week at GSWA in exchange for college credit. Lisa’s a senior at Drew, where she’s majoring in Psychobiology.

Bonnie Gannon, Development Director, is excited about our "Do the Swamp Thing" partnership with Kings Super Markets and Recorder Community Newspapers. She says that although it’s difficult to quantify the effect that these promotional efforts will have, the publicity has been invaluable. Bonnie also wants to thank Nancy Miller Rich, Jeff Rich, and the staff of Integrated Communications Systems for donating their time and significant talent to making this collaboration a success.

Louisa Lubiak, an Americorp member of the NJ Watershed Ambassader program since September, completes her assignment at GSWA in May, and is looking for work. She’s an experienced RAT’s and BAT’s coordinator and volunteer organizer. Louisa has a BA degree in Earth Science from Kean University and would like to continue to work on educational and environmental issues. You can reach her at 973.966.1900.

Karen Parrish, former GSWA Project Director gave birth to fraternal twins, Juliana Frances and Samuel Patrick on Feb. 14. These special delivery valentines are doing well and have already doubled their birth weight. According to Karen, they’re also giving serious thought to sleeping through the night. Karen, husband Bill Aiello (former Chair and current Board Member), and the babies are looking forward to spring and will be out and around the Great Swamp with their double jogger.

Julia Somers, Executive Director, has become a favorite guest speaker for many local organizations. According to Julia, she can speak about nearly any topic at all, and although she welcomes contributions to GSWA, doesn’t require a financial commitment. Her recent engagements have included the Unitarian Church in Summit; A Public Information Meeting for watershed management areas 4, 5, and 6; the Annual Meeting of the League of Women Voters from Chatham, Madison, and Florham Park; and the Junior League of Morristown’s General Membership Meeting.

Missy Small joined GSWA as Communications Director this winter. She’s responsible for communicating with the Association’s members, targeted audiences, and the public. She will also oversee the organization’s media relations, publication of its quarterly newsletter, website, operation of its speakers bureau, and preparation of specialized publications and videotapes.

Most recently, Missy was Public Information Director at the Reeves-Reed Arboretum in Summit. She has also coached business leaders in writing and public speaking, and worked with a variety of small businesses. She holds an MBA degree from Rutgers and a BFA degree from Syracuse.
