Annual open space tax: $.02 per $100 of assessed land.
Acres of land preserved with open space funds: 4279 acres, or 55%, of the township is vacant land, parks, conservation and open space areas, due principally to the existence of wetlands, flood plains, and steep slopes, as well as through preservation efforts.

- The Great Swamp National Wildlife Refuge comprises 2320 acres of open space in the township.

- In 2005 with $205,000 from the Morris County Preservation Trust, the Phifer Farm tract (13.39 acres) was preserved.
