Springfield Resident Named to Watershed Association Post
The Great Swamp Watershed Association has named Springfield resident Missy Small as its communications director, according to Julia M. Somers, Executive Director.
Ms. Small will have responsibility for communicating with the Association’s members, targeted audiences, and the public. In her new position she will oversee the organization’s media relations, publication of its quarterly newsletter, website, operation of its speakers bureau, and preparation of specialized publications and videotapes.
Ms Small was, most recently, Public Information Director at the Reeves-Reed Arboretum in Summit. She has also coached business leaders in writing and public speaking, and worked with a variety of small businesses. She holds a BFA degree from Syracuse University and an MBA degree from Rutgers University.
The Great Swamp Watershed Association was formed in 1981 to encourage good management policies and practices on behalf of the 12,000 acres of exceptional public lands in the Great Swamp National Wildlife Refuge and its surrounding watershed. With a membership of 2,500, it conducts programs and projects in three areas: technical services, educational services and community services. As a non-profit organization, GSWA relies solely on membership and donations for funding. For additional information, or to join the Association, call 973-966-1900, or visit www.greatswamp.org on the World Wide Web.
