Robert Blanchard, Vice President of the Great Swamp Watershed Association, recently announced the formation of a Corporate Council to collaborate with the Watershed Association on projects both in the workplace and in area communities. This is the first time the Watershed Association had enlisted the support of local businesses.

Atlantic Mutual, Briarpatch, Honeywell, Integrated Communications, Kings Super Markets, Pharmacia Corporation, PSEG, Schering-Plough, and Wyeth have joined forces with Great Swamp Watershed Association. According to Mr. Blanchard, "The Corporate Council will be a two-way street. The Watershed Association will provide guidance and advice to companies on managing their business properties in environmentally friendly ways and provide environmental programs for their employees and families. The businesses offer the Watershed Association support through a variety of ways including financial resources, providing volunteers, and promoting activities through their websites and other company resources. We will also develop joint public awareness promotions, like "Do the Swamp Thing," which is now in its second year."

Blanchard continued, "We’re excited about the possibilities and appreciate that these corporations value our work to protect the Great Swamp watershed region."
