Cocktail Party and Silent Auction to Benefit Environment
Friday, November 15, 2002, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Mead Hall, Drew University, Great Swamp Watershed Association will be having a cocktail party and silent auction to raise money for their environmental education and protection programs. In addition, Franklin E. Parker will be receiving the Marcellus Hartley Dodge Memorial Award for his single-minded commitment to environmental conservation.
For more than two decades, Frank Parker has been at the heart of The Trust for Public Land’s work in New Jersey and throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. He became involved in land conservation issues in 1959, working on the Great Swamp Watershed Committee with other conservationists to establish a wildlife refuge in the Great Swamp. He also served as the first chairman of the New Jersey Pinelands Commission and oversaw formation of the Comprehensive Management Plan, which continues to be an effective tool to protect the region in a manner that maintains its unique ecology while permitting compatible development.
The silent auction, which has become an annual event will include a wide variety of fabulous prizes, including tickets to professional sporting events, original art, dinner at area restaurants, vacation homes, and more. The cocktail party and silent auction is open to member, guests, and friends. For ticket information, call the Great Swamp Watershed Association, 973-966-1900.
