Maersk
Joins Watershed Association Corporate Council
Robert Blanchard,
President of the Great Swamp Watershed Association, recently welcomed Maersk
to the Corporate Council through which companies collaborate with the
Watershed Association on projects both in the workplace and in area
communities.
Maersk has joined forces
with other local businesses Atlantic Mutual, Briarpatch, Honeywell, Integrated
Communications, Kings Super
Markets, Pharmacia Corporation, PSEG, Schering-Plough, Wyeth, and the
Watershed Association. According
to Mr. Blanchard, “Enlisting the support of area companies offers advantages
to us all. The Watershed
Association will provide opportunities for guidance and advice to companies on
managing their properties in environmentally friendly ways and provide
environmental programs for their employees and families.
The businesses offer the Watershed Association support through a
variety of ways including financial resources, providing volunteers, and
promoting activities through their websites and other company resources.
We will also develop joint public awareness promotions, like “Do the
Swamp Thing,” which is now in its third year.
Great Swamp Watershed Association was created in 1981 to protect the Great Swamp watershed basin. Celebrating its 20th Anniversary as a non-profit organization, the Watershed Association relies solely on membership and contributions to protect the continued health of our watershed’s area. If you’re not already a member, become one today. For more information, call (973) 966-1900, or visit their website at www.greatswamp.org.
