GREAT SWAMP WATERSHED ASSOCIATION PLANS “MOONLIT NATURE HIKE”

Members and non-members alike of GSWA can enjoy a year-round calendar of fun and exciting nature events throughout the Great Swamp Watershed area.

This November the Watershed Association is holding the “Moonlit Nature Hike” on Sunday November 21st from 5:30-7:30pm (rain date December 4th). Although we don’t guarantee the moonlight, there will be plenty of nature to learn about on this night hike around the trails of Somerset County Park Commission’s Lord Stirling Park, at the western edge of the Great Swamp. November is courting time for owls; hikers may hear owls, or coyotes calling. Play some games to learn more about night senses, and revel in being out after dark without a flashlight!

Cost $6 per person, children under 5 free. Sorry, no pets.

We ask that you pre-register for these programs to learn meeting locations and other information. Space is limited. Wear sturdy footwear and bring a drink and snack for the walks. Bring binoculars or wildlife guides if you have them. All children welcome. (For more info or directions call Hazel England at 973-538-3500 x20 or email hazele@greatswamp.org)

The Great Swamp Watershed Association was founded in 1981 to protect the Great Swamp watershed basin. Celebrating more than 20 years as a non-profit organization, the Watershed Association relies on membership and contributions to help protect the continued health of the 55-square-mile watershed area. For information on becoming a member, and to learn about upcoming events, visit the Watershed Association website at www.greatswamp.org.
