Great Swamp Watershed Association Plans "MOONLIT NATURE HIKE AT THE CROSS ESTATE"
Members of GSWA and non-members alike can enjoy a year-round calendar of fun and exciting nature events throughout the Great Swamp Watershed area.
This February the Watershed Association is holding a "Moonlit Nature Hike” on Friday February 25 from 6:00-8pm. Although they don't guarantee the moonlight, there will be plenty of nature to learn about on this unusual night hike around Morristown National Park's Cross Estate at the northwestern edge of the Great Swamp. Owls will be hunting to feed their young, and the many conifers at the Cross estate may provide excellent habitat for Screech or Great Horned owls, flying squirrels and more. Visitors may even hear coyotes calling. They can play some games to learn more about night senses, and enjoy being out after dark without a flashlight!
Cost $8 per person, children under 5 free. Sorry, no pets.
Participants must pre-register for these programs to learn meeting locations and other information. Space is limited. Wear sturdy footwear, dress warmly and bring a drink and snack for the walks. They may bring binoculars or wildlife guides if they have them. All children welcome. (For more info or directions call Hazel England at 973-538-3500 x20 or email hazele@greatswamp.org). Participants may sign up and pay securely for these events at the GSWA website
