Spring Cleaning of Loantaka Brook

Morris Township — The Great Swamp Watershed Association and AmeriCorps NJ Watershed Ambassadors will hold their annual volunteer cleanup of Loantaka Brook on Saturday, April 9, rain or shine. Stop by the Kitchell Pond Pavilion in the Loantaka Brook Reservation any time between 9:30 a.m. and noon to help pick up trash and debris in and around the stream, one of five in the Great Swamp watershed that flows into the Great Swamp National Wildlife Refuge, then exits as the Passaic River, a source of drinking water for over a million people. Founded in 1981, the Great Swamp Watershed Association is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving and protecting the water and land of the 36,000-acre watershed region in Morris and Somerset counties.
