Sally Rubin, an attorney committed to improving the quality of life in New Jersey through civic activity, joined GWSA in January, 2008. A lifelong resident of Somerset Hills, she brings a wealth of community involvement and experience to the position. She is currently serving her first term as a member of the Bedminster Township Committee, and is also a member of the Bedminster Planning Board. Additionally, she serves as a member of the Board of Directors of the Somerset Hills Handicapped Riding Center, where she has also been a volunteer. Ms. Rubin previously served on the Boards of Education for Bedminster and the Somerset Hills School District. She graduated from Johns Hopkins University with a degree in psychology and holds a J.D. from Fordham University School of Law.
Kelley Curran, Director of Water Quality Programs, kcurran@greatswamp.org
Kelley is a former volunteer who joined the Watershed Association staff in January 2004. She has several years of experience in environmental consulting and currently directs our stream monitoring program. Her current focus is the Loantaka Brook Adopt-A-Stream project that seeks to improve the water quality of the most degraded stream in the watershed. Kelley holds an M.S. in Environmental Science from the NJ Institute of Technology and a B.S. in the same discipline from Kutztown University.
Hazel England, Director of Education & Outreach, hazele@greatswamp.org
Hazel joined the staff in September of 2004 after working for 9-1/2 years as a Naturalist for Somerset County Park Commission’s Environmental Education Center. Prior to that she worked as the Executive Director of the Whites Bog Preservation Trust in the Pine Barrens. She conducted programs for students of all ages and designed watershed education programs. Hazel was born and brought up in Scotland and England, received her undergraduate degree in Zoology and Botany from the University of Dundee, Scotland, and her masters in Ecology and Environmental Management from the University of Aberdeen.
Marysue DePaola, Development Director, mdepaola@greatswamp.org
Marysue joined the staff in May, 2008, and brings with her an extensive background in fundraising. She has worked for some of the state’s most prestigious institutions, including Assistant Director of Development at The Newark Museum, Associate Vice President of Alumni Relations and Annual Fund at Centenary College and, most recently, Director of Development at The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey. Marysue graduated from Seton Hall University with a B. A. in English. She is a member of the New Jersey Chapter of the Association for Fundraising Professionals.
Debra Dolan, Manager of Communications and Member Services, ddolan@greatswamp.org
Debra joined the staff in 2007, responsible for membership support and development initiatives. Having worked for a number of corporations in the area, she brings to the organization skills and experience in sales, marketing, information technology, project management and publishing. She holds both an M.A. in Corporate & Organizational Communication and a B.F.A. in Graphic Arts from Fairleigh Dickinson University.
Sharon McCann, Office Manager & Finance Director, smccann@greatswamp.org
Sharon joined the staff in May 2005. She is responsible for the organization’s financial management. In addition, she is the staff liaison to the Board of Trustees. Sharon has an extensive background in specialty chemicals, fabric printing, and publishing, and has held senior management positions in each of these areas. She holds a B.A. in Economics from Rutgers University and a M.B.A. in Accounting from Fairleigh Dickinson University.
