Conservation Area Volunteers

Brief biographies of some of the current volunteers in the GSWA Conservation Area

Frank H. Stillinger

A long-time resident of Chatham Township in the Great Swamp watershed, Frank H. Stillinger was employed for 41 years at Bell Laboratories in Murray Hill in theoretical research as a chemical physicist. Currently he is a Visiting Research Collaborator in the Chemistry and Chemical Engineering Departments at Princeton University, contributing to research projects with graduate students, post-doctoral fellows, and faculty. Frank has frequently been involved in the preparation of technical reports for the National Research Council, the research arm of the National Academy of Science, most of which dealt with environmental issues, such as water pollution by arsenic and radon, and ecological restoration in the Florida Everglades and the Platte River Basin. His activities at the GSWA ecological restoration site in Harding Township have included trail creation and maintenance, design and construction of foot bridges, and removal of invasive plant species. Blaine Rothauser

Blaine Rothauser is presently employed by Thonet Associates, Inc. based out of Pittstown, NJ. He is the firm's Chief Biologist and Naturalist. He is responsible for threatened and endangered species surveys, wetland delineations and environmental impact assessments. Blaine Rothauser has been the resource management consultant for the Great Swamp Watershed Association since 1996 in charge of an ecological restoration project on 51 acres of forested wetlands in Harding Township. The site is now called the Great Swamp Watershed Associations Ecological Restoration Site. Blaine’s expertise in native plant communities and invasive species control is put into practice on the restoration site. Blaine makes a part of his living as a professional wildlife photographer. His pictures have graced magazines, calendars, corporate reports, newspapers and books throughout the state. Blaine’s wildlife photography website is located at www.e-naturaleyes.com.
