We’ve got a make-at-home project for you that is sure to be a hoot!
This is your opportunity to build a Screech Owl box at home at your own pace. Hanging a Screech Owl box is a great way to encourage these fascinating birds to your backyard so you and your family can experience their seasonal nesting and roosting habits.
Eastern Screech Owls reside l ocally year-round, even in suburban areas and adjust well to human presence. Not sure if you have the right habitat for Screech Owls? Don’t worry, Kestrels and other large cavity nesters like flying squirrels are also attracted to constructed boxes.
All you will need is a hammer and screwdriver. We will provide everything else, including primed boxes ready to be painted or stained to match your nook. When you register for this virtual program, you will collect your kit from our office in a secure and safe way. At home, you can build the box following our easy to follow, step-by-step instruction guide that also contains important and interesting natural history information to help ensure nesting success. We will even be available for technical help should you require it.
This project is limited to the first 7 people to register, so don’t miss out and register today! You’ll receive your pick up instructions and link to the how to build materials post-registration.
