Join us for a workshop that is sure to be a hoot! Enjoy an evening of information and a little elbow grease. We will kick-off the workshop by learning about the elusive, silent hunters of the night - owls, followed by the hands-on portion. GSWA will provide you with everything you need to build your own Screech Owl box to take home and hang in your yard. Eastern Screech Owls reside local year-round and adjust well to human presence. Hanging a Screech Owl box is a great way to attract these fascinating birds to your backyard allowing you and your family to experience their seasonal nesting and roosting habits and year-round activities. This workshop is limited to the first 16 people to sign up, so don't miss out and register today! $40 covers the talk, all supplies and light snacks.

This is your opportunity to build a Screech Owl box at home at your own pace. It's as easy as 1-2-3, and just in time for nesting season. Register for this virtual program, collect the boxes from our office in a secure and safe way, then build the box at your leisure at home following our easy to follow, step-by-step instruction guide. We will even be available for technical help should you require it. All you need is a hammer, the kit that we will provide, and a little patience. If you are not sure if you have the right habitat for these amazing warblers, don’t worry, many other cavity nesting birds will utilize constructed boxes. Our follow-along guide contains important and interesting background information to help ensure nesting success. This workshop is limited to the first 5 people to sign up, so don’t miss out and register today! You’ll receive your pick up instructions and link to the how to build materials. You’ll decorate your masterpiece with pinecones, berries, and other items found in nature. While your creativity blossoms, you’ll learn more about the natural items being used in this craft. Hot cider will be served. GSWA members $30, non-members $35. Price covers everything you need to leave with a finished piece that’s ready to hang on your door or give as a gift. While it’s a difficult time to shop, this outdoor event offers a safe, socially distant opportunity to do something crafty.   Masks are mandatory and social distancing will be enforced. We’ve got the solution - 3 nature-themed DIY projects for your child to keep or give away: 1) Hanging pinecone suet birdfeeder; 2) Decorated muslin produce and/or gift bag for use at the grocery store or as a gift bag; 3) Easy-make pollinator box (no sawing) to attract native bees to your yard. Brown paper will be on-hand to wrap the gifts. Hot chocolate and snacks available for the children. GSWA members $20, non-members $25. Price covers everything you need to leave with 3 finished pieces. While it’s a difficult time to shop, this outdoor crafting event offers a safe, socially distant opportunity for your child to get creative with wild-life friendly, natural items.
